SUMMARY:RISE 2021: Marathon of Intimacies by Anushiye Yarnell and Jo Fong
DESCRIPTION:Artists Anushiye Yarnell and Jo Fong will be in residency at Dance North in the week in the lead up to their presentations of Marathon of Intimacies. \nThe performance is an embodied conversation between two women about getting what they need. \nMarathon is a word associated with endurance and winning.\nIntimacy is overused in describing performance.\nThese two words marathon and intimacy don’t fit together. \nAll the intimacies that have been part of our lives\, could they be with us while we’re dancing?

SUMMARY:HMS Pinafore by Gilbert & Sullivan
DESCRIPTION:Directed by Oliver Gray \nSet on board the warship HMS Pinafore\, the opera cheerfully mocks such Great British institutions as Class\, Patriotism and the Royal Navy.  Josephine\, the captain’s daughter\, is in love with Ralph\, a common sailor\, but her father wants her to marry Sir Joseph Porter\, First Lord of the Admiralty.  The couple are caught as they elope from the ship and Ralph is locked in the ship’s dungeon.  Only when certain revelations are made by Buttercup\, a dockside vendor\, can everyone end up freely marrying their true hearts’ loves. \n\nThis wonderful comic opera gets the complete Illyria treatment\, faithfully performed by a reduced cast on the beautiful nautical set \n\nNow in its 29th year\, Illyria has delighted audiences the length and breadth of the UK\, and in the Netherlands\, Germany\, Switzerland\, France\, the United States and Canada performing some of the most well-loved productions on offer. The company has won 4 international Best Performance” awards and attracted numerous “5-star” and “Critics’ Choice” reviews for the lively clarity of its approach to Shakespeare’s plays\, the high quality of its family shows and the refreshingly quirky originality of its English classics adaptations and Gilbert & Sullivan musicals. \n“Illyria has given more performances to more people across a wider area than any other open-air touring theatre company\, proudly maintaining professional Equity-compliant productions for over a quarter of a century. We’re really pleased to be performing at Logie Steading again and can’t wait see how the audience reacts!” says Artistic Director Oliver Gray. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShow starts at 7pm\, you’re welcome to come and set up from 6pm.  Bring a picnic\, suitable clothes\, and something to sit on.  Refreshments will be available in The Olive Tree Café in the interval. \nRunning time: 1 hour 40 minutes (including a 20 minute interval) \n\nTickets\, info and Covid compliance: https://www.logie.co.uk/hms-pinafore/

SUMMARY:Much Ado About Nothing
DESCRIPTION:Claudio loves Hero\, and Benedick hates Beatrice. This is just as well\, because Hero loves Claudio and Beatrice hates Benedick. Everyone laughs when Don Pedro plays a trick on Benedick and Beatrice\, letting each think that they are secretly loved by the other. But it is no laughing matter when Don John plays a trick on Claudio and Hero\, deceiving Claudio into thinking that Hero is not faithful to him. \nMurderous rage is unleashed\, and death can be the only solution… Or can it? Perhaps one last trick may resurrect the innocent dead\, restore broken relationships – and even create an unlikely union of Benedick and Beatrice! \nIllyria is an intrepid band of five actors who perform Shakespeare’s plays\, entirely uncut\, direct from the First Folio\, the most authoritative edition of Shakespeare’s plays. It’s swift\, it’s polished and it’s spoken beautifully (uniquely among open-air touring theatre companies Illyria’s artistic director has published articles on verse-speaking) – and scholars on both sides of the Atlantic agree that Illyria’s performance style is the most authentically Elizabethan to be seen. Since 1992 they have performed on what feels like every patch of grass from Land’s End to John O’Groats – and also in Ireland\, France\, Germany\, Holland\, Switzerland\, USA and Canada. They are the only UK open-air touring company to have won no less than 4 international awards\, and have a well-deserved reputation for being\, quite simply\, the best. \nShow starts at 7pm\, you’re welcome to come and set up from 6pm. \nRunning time: 2 hours 10 minutes (including a 20-minute interval) \nMore information\, tickets\, and Covid compliance: https://www.logie.co.uk/much-ado-about-nothing/
