Everyone laughs when Don Pedro plays a trick on Benedick and Beatrice\, letting each think that they are secretly loved by the other. But it is no laughing matter when Don John plays a trick on Claudio and Hero\, deceiving Claudio into thinking that Hero is not faithful to him. \nMurderous rage is unleashed\, and death can be the only solution… Or can it? Perhaps one last trick may resurrect the innocent dead\, restore broken relationships – and even create an unlikely union of Benedick and Beatrice! \nIllyria is an intrepid band of five actors who perform Shakespeare’s plays\, entirely uncut\, direct from the First Folio\, the most authoritative edition of Shakespeare’s plays. It’s swift\, it’s polished and it’s spoken beautifully (uniquely among open-air touring theatre companies Illyria’s artistic director has published articles on verse-speaking) – and scholars on both sides of the Atlantic agree that Illyria’s performance style is the most authentically Elizabethan to be seen. Since 1992 they have performed on what feels like every patch of grass from Land’s End to John O’Groats – and also in Ireland\, France\, Germany\, Holland\, Switzerland\, USA and Canada. Each reaching into their past to adapt and update an older work into something new. \nPerformance Times:\nFriday 2 July – 16:00\, 19:30\nSaturday 3 July – 12:00 \nThe Solo Piece – Matteo Fargion\nDuration: 25mins \nThe Solo Piece (2018) was commissioned by the Labor Sonor Festival\,Berlin\, for which I was one of six composers invited to make dance pieces. \nI thought it might be interesting to have another go at translating the score of Morton Feldman’s For John Cage\, which Jonathan Burrows and I borrowed to make our first duo performance Both Sitting Duet in 2002\, and which was recently retranslated by Eleanor Sikorski and Flora Wellesley Wesley (aka Nora) to make Eleanor & Flora Music. \nBut this time it’s just me on stage\, waving my arms. And this lonelier counterpoint is now between my voice and the meaningless gestures that I make. There is almost no new material in the piece\, it’s all shamelessly stolen from those early duets made with Jonathan\, and I liked how different it looked when rewritten in this way.\n– Matteo Fargion \nAt Once – Karl Jay-Lewin\nChoreography and Direction: Deborah Hay\nAdaptation: Karl Jay-Lewin\nDuration 25-30 mins \nAt Once (2021) is a re-adaptation of a solo made and performed from 2009-11. SUMMARY:Findhorn Dunes Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join The Findhorn Dunes Trust\, a charity set up by gift in 2000\, to explore and discover the importance of the 175 acres of dunes along the Moray coast. \nWe shall walk around much of the area to see the varied\, enduring but delicate nature of the dunes and their plant cover. The area is now firmly established as a site of National Importance for lichens\, and we’ll explore many of these and other plant cover\, including some invasive species. \nOn route\, we’ll also see the Trusts work in looking after this area and a chance to see a demonstration on pine sapling removal. There are expansive views\, on a clear day\, across the Moray Firth to Sutherland and Caithness. The Moray Firth has a rich marine habitat\, and a variety of wildlife can be spotted from the height advantage of some of the larger dunes. \nSome dunes have short steep slopes and there is an area of dunes on the seaward side that despite the ongoing dune erosion supports a colony of sand martins.\nOn the walk\, we shall see several remnants of industrial archaeology as well as evidence of further coastal erosion. \nMore info and tickets
